MANAGEMENT
Management is a function of controlling resources in an effective and efficient way. What was given is the resources at our disposal which is termed to what we HAVE to achieve Wealth. This is a concept that plays major role in what we HAVE and what we will HAVE which is the main reason why people concluded that Wealth has a time limit, some can even say wealth last for 20years according to their findings. But to be realistic, some people hold wealth for a period, some for life while some could not even touch wealth. It is because of management. As our productivity determine what we HAVE, so also our MANAGEMENT of wealth resource. God does not waste His RESOURCES, it is always focusing on achieving a goal for His word can not return void, it must achieve what it was sent for, but when one starting diverging His resource contrary to His Will, then He stops sending His resources to him and look after the one who will be able to manage it to achieve His goal.
Management entails proper preparation of the heart towards achieving a goal- wealth. That is, proper planning. God searches the heart and knows our intentions for becoming wealthy. If at the beginning the intention was right with the Lord, He releases little of His resources to us to manage before He releases it in a greater measure. This thing called LITTLE before the Lord can even last for many years in our custody depending on how it was managed before another set of it could be sent. One of the major resources that we all HAVE is TIME, so Time management play a key role in wealth creation, for there is time and season for every purpose on the earth.
Two things as a guiding principle in management of resources are: never be ignorant of what you have, know your authority over what you have and command it, and never waste what you have for wrong purpose, discipline yourself and focus on achieving what was planned for. One can still be poor or in lack despite what he HAS. Some nations are poor economically despite the abundance of resources they HAVE because of mismanagement due to ignorant and wastage of resources. So also, individuals. Ignorant play its role as in the case of the servant that was given one talent according to his ability but went ahead to dig the ground and hid his talent. He was ignorant of the important of what he had, what it could yield for him and the time implication and he failed to exercise his authority to trade with it, to manage it well so that he could have more. (Matthew 25:14-30). A lot of resources are lying fallowing unused and has started rusting and losing value because of our lack of proper management. The one with five talent traded with his own to have more, but the Master commended him to be faithful over the little he was given and he was promised to enter into the true wealth but for that servant, he was seen as a wicked and slothful who could have even kept it or saved his talent with the bankers to yield him more interest, so it was taken away from him and was given to him who has the ten talents who fulfil the law: “For to everyone who has will more be given, and he will have an abundant. But from the one who has not, (ignorant of what he has) even what he has will be taken away” (Matthew 25:29)
In Luke 16: 1-13, there was a story of unjust steward with an accusation of wasting his master’s goods. The truth of the matter is that he lost his privileges with his master and he could no longer serve the master anymore. He could not give account of his stewardship, he could only go away with what he had gather but there was a verdict that he can not be wealthy- “He who is faithful in what is least is faithful also in much; and he who is unjust in what is least is unjust also in much. Therefore, if you have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches? And if you have not been faithful in what is another man’s, who will give you what is your own?” (Luke 16:10-12).
God is the giver of all things. Everything we have in our custody; we are just a steward of His grace, to manage it for the owner to Him we are to give account. The little billion in your pocket, how do you manage it. Heavens are watching on how we manage every talent giving to us, it is meant for a purpose, search for its purpose and be disciplined not to diverge it to another ungodly purpose.
It is for us to know that God holds His rain when there are no one to till the ground (Genesis 2:5), so also if we refuse to trade with what we have, we might not receive more and eventually it could be taken away. This explain the time limit of wealth but for the keepers of wealth, they are the good manager of wealth as it was discussed in one of our post tagged “The Keepers of Wealth”.
